PARABLE OF THE KNIGHT'S TOUR
You enter the cathedral. You are overwhelmed by the vast emptiness above you, surrounding you. Light streams in through a stained glass window illuminating relics below that reflect the larger immensity beyond - metallic, wood, and stone miniatures - architectural fragments - towers, turrets, spires, crucifixes - boxes with jewels embedded. Those that made them, what were they thinking?
Perhaps nothing. Perhaps like all artists and scientists, they were in awe, and were bearing witness to their encounter. It was their way to say I have known eternity, and may you also.
Our cathedral today is many times more vast and void. It is cosmic. The relics we discover within it are planets, asteroids, meteors, comets, star systems. But the awe is the same. Eternity is the same.
